To those who have invested into Bramber Bakehouse and helped us to be what we are today, we’re so grateful for your support and, despite the events of 2020, we are so pleased to share some of our most recent highlights with you.
In October we saw six women graduate, armed with knowledge and skills for the future. We were absolutely delighted to witness a member of our cohort start her university degree in Media Communications – a fantastic achievement and a real proud moment for them and us!
The most crucial funding for Bramber Bakehouse comes from people like you, who donate one-off or monthly gifts. We want to thank you for your continued financial support. Last year we raised almost £50,000! It is this support which ensures Bramber Bakehouse can continue for the long-term. We’re beginning to search for larger premises, employing staff and finding new, innovative ways to support women both locally and nationally, particularly during the pandemic.
As with everyone, the pandemic has brought many challenges. At present, we’re unable to start a new cohort in person, but we are grateful for this time to continue growing and striving to support more women throughout the South East. We have been greatly helped by our excellent trustee board who have helped shape and plan our growth.
In 2020 we were awarded The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service which was an incredible honour for our team. As we use this recognition to empower our next steps, we look forward to celebrating at Buckingham Palace next year.
We are pleased to announce Co-Founder, Lucy Butt, will be our first employee. From February, Lucy will begin the role as Operations Manager, continuing to support women survivors of human trafficking through our evolving programme with capacity for up to 30 women to attend Bramber Bakehouse each year.
We believe our work is needed now more than ever. As we look forward to this year we are excited about the opportunities and growth in front of us and hope you’ll continue the journey alongside us.
Until next time,
Hollin and Lucy
